Hi everyone: I was in New Orleans this past weekend only for one day. (yeah I know, one day is hardly enough). I have been there many, many times and I absolutely love the city and its culture. I stayed at the Marriott on Canal street and I woke up extremely hungry on Sunday Morning. I got dressed headed downstairs to Starbucks (because there is one in the lobby of the hotel). When I got downstairs, I decided to go for a walk to see if something else was close. I actually had a taste for pancakes and eggs. Well, on my walk, I made it about 20 steps out the hotel to a street called Chartres and found this restaurant as soon as I made that right turn. It was this small little place on my left called Daisy Dukes Restaurant.
I wanted to review this restaurant because my experience was pretty good. I can say that my waitress wasn’t that friendly but she hasn’t horrible either. There was a line outside with a 10 to 15-minute wait.
Once inside, the place is small with New Orleans decor with exposed brick walls, sports memorabilia and framed musical art. There was even a water feature.
Most of the tables in my section had Bloody Mary’s (they have won awards for this bloody Mary), Mimosas or Beer on the table, and it was only 10 am. My waitress came to my table and requested my drink order. I just ordered water. I needed to hydrate from the Bourbon street drinks I had the night before. The waitress came right back to get my order.
With that, you get a side of fruit and hash browns. Also, they have homemade biscuits as well. It was a lot of food for $12. Since the place was very busy, I thought it would take the kitchen forever to get my food to me but surprisingly, people were getting their food in under 15 minutes and so did I.
During my wait to receive my plate, the restaurant leaves this box of trivia cards on the table called Genus. It is a great little time passer while your stomach is growling for some food. I had fun learning fun facts about things from Movies to President quotes.
Overall this place was cool and it made me happy to be there. If you can’t get to the location on Chartres, the restaurant offers 3 other locations in the city. Thumbs up
