About Me

Hi Everyone: My name is Tonia . I was born and raised in Memphis, TN. I am a mother. I graduated with my Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Memphis in Paralegal Studies. In my spare time I am shopping or doing something creative. I love to Socialize. Who doesn’t love to meet new and like-minded people?

I love to sew. I have only been sewing since summer of 2011. It all started when my sister managed a strip club (yes I said strip club ) and was like these girls sure do need some dancewear. She said that the old costume lady had not been coming in to the club for a while. So the girls needed some new outfits to perform in. She said that there was good money in it. I immediately went and bought a sewing machine. I looked online at some of the things that they wore and used some old dance outfits that my sister gave me to use for patterns. I have always been a creative person and I am very good at figuring complicated things out on my own. So, in about a month, I had made about 30 to 40 outfits to take to the club to sell. The first night I went in I made over $300 bucks. I was like wow, there is money in this! It may not be the most glamorous or ethical job but hey somebody’s got to do it.  So I made exotic dancewear as a side gig while I worked full-time in the daytime. I usually went in the club on Friday and Saturday night anyway. After, I got use to making the dancewear/swimwear; I got interested in making clothes. I love Project Runway and I couldn’t wait until Thursdays for the latest episode. Soon, I started buying patterns and watching videos on how to better my craft.

I love to Thrift. I use to hate going to Thrift Stores because I hated sifting through all the chaos. Maybe I am just getting older and comfortable or bored, I don’t know but one day I just went to a Thrift Store and actually looked around and found some really good bargains. I was like wow. I was hooked going forward. Now, I MUST go at least once a week to see what goodies I can find. My husband was like “girl don’t you bring nothing else home to the house, we going to be looking like Sanford and Sons pretty soon with all this junk”. I did not see it as junk. I saw the pieces I found as great little finds that I was going to somehow make better or beautiful again.

I love Photography. Now I know what you thinking, this girl is all over the place with the things she loves. (lol). I took photography classes in college. I learned how to develop film and all that good stuff before I even knew that digital cameras existed. I could not afford a great camera back then but I was definitely fascinated with photography. My first camera was a Canon Rebel. I did all kinds of free photo shoots (I still have some of the pics). My niece wanted to be an actress at one point and I took tons of photos of her. I worked part-time on a Memphis based TV show that showcased up and coming Music Artist and I gave out free photo-shoots all the time. I still love to take pictures of people but mainly events like weddings, engagements, baby shower etc.

I love to Travel. I use to take cruises with my girlfriends and travel a lot in the U.S. I lived a short stint in New York which I absolutely loved. I only left because I got a great job offer back home in Memphis and decided to come back home.

My New Love. Fitness! At least, I hope to make it my new love. I have gained quite a bit of weight in the last couple of years. I would like to lose about 35-45lbs by eating clean and working out. We will see how that goes.
