Repurposed! Leather Skirt into a quick 1 hour handbag

Hi Everyone:

So last night, I felt the need to make something.  I went to the thrift store a couple of weeks ago and found this black leather skirt for like $4.  I thought ewwww, I can make this into a really big handbag.  Well last night I made that idea come true.

First, I flipped the skirt inside out and sewed the split down.  Then I stitched the bottom across.  I am so glad the skirt as lined.

Next, I cut the top off, at the height that I wanted.  I then hemmed it on top.  I thought, what can I use for straps?  My husband had an old belt that was too small for him so I cut it and punched 4 holes on each end.  I then matched where I wanted my straps to be attached and punched holes in the skirt as well.  I put rivets in them and boom.  My big handy dandy skirt/bag was re-born.  I am a pack rat, so I love it.  I will probably need surgeries in the future for shoulder and back pain but hey right now, I am happy.
